How to Enjoy Your On Campus Summer

Stuck at campus this summer and afraid it’s going to be the most boring summer ever? While it’s true that with less people on campus there won’t be something going on around every corner it doesn’t mean that you have to spend your summer watching reruns and laying on the couch all day. Even if you’re working a summer job or taking classes, you’ll have tons of free time and the best way to make your summer fun is to put that time to good use. So here are some tips to help make your summer on campus one of your best summers ever.

  1. Make new friends
Just because there are less people on campus doesn’t mean that there are no people on campus. You’re probably even living with other people in a suite or apartment. So take some time to get to know these people and make new friends. Invite people on your floor over for a movie night or get a group of people together and play Frisbee outside in the sun. Because most people won’t know one another it will be like freshman first week all over again meaning that you can make new friends but without the fear that you won’t have any friends for your entire college career.
  2. Learn a new skill
Summer offers you a lot of time to do whatever you want. But you’ll feel much happier and more productive if you take that time to better yourself and learn how to do something you’ve always wanted to do. For example, you can learn how to cook—a skill we’ll all need eventually in our lives—by just experimenting in the kitchen or even taking a class nearby campus. Another option is to learn to sew or crochet which can be useful and fun. Also, another bonus is that you can do it anywhere so it’s easy to learn while laying outside and getting a tan. There are plenty of options so find something that interests you and go for it.
  3. Explore
Get out either on campus or off campus and explore everything there is to see. Even if you’re going to be a senior there are probably still some secret places that you haven’t discovered at your school yet. And if you feel like you’ve seen everything there is to see on campus then try to go explore the town you live in. Whether you live in a big city or a small town there’s definitely something that you can see for the first time.

Hopefully with these tips you will be able to find plenty of fun things to do on campus this summer and keep you wishing it will never end!
