How Health Care Reform Effects Students

April 3, 2010

Brian Kaskie, a UI associate professor of health management and policy,

While health-care reform agenda could include both positives and negatives for young people, it’s a net gain for students.

One aspect of the reform that affected students at the University of Iowa was the possible changes to the Universities health care plan. Under the new health care law, preventative care is requirement of coverage. This is good news for students in terms of coverage but this may also cause prices to rise for the Universities health care plan.

Changes in the health care law may also effect other schools in the nation. Be sure to check with your academic institution to see if your rates are subject to change.

Either way, don’t panic! Check your options, the new release of GradGuard’s student protection plan could possibly save you money while providing you with great coverage.
