Paul Sullivan of The New York Times describes some of the vital risks that college families should consider in his September 17th article. Sullivan commentary is mostly aimed for wealthy parents, but much of the advice he highlights applies to all 19.7 million college students and their families.

There is a great deal of discussion regarding the involvement of parents in college students lives these days. Next General recently began offering GradGuard, a national group policy available to students at any college. The program provides up to $50,000 of annual tuition insurance for the nonrefunded financial loss associated with attending college. Included in the package also is coverage for identify theft, emergency medical evacuation and even personal-computer coverage. The cost is $239 a year and up, depending on the level of coverage.
